Love science? The Apprenticeships in Science & Engineering (ASE) program places high school students with mentors in science, technology, negineering, and math (STEM) internships. These eight-week, full-time summer positions are pre-professional opportunities that take place in Oregon and Southwest Washington in areas such as Portland, Eugene, Corvallis, Vancouver and Bend. It's a competitive internships, with over 400 applicants each year and about 130 slots available. About 40% of the interns are from groups or come from backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented in the sciences.
