Principal’s Message:
Dear NMHS Families,
We hope this newsletter finds you well and in good spirits. As we move into the heart of the school year, we want to take a moment to express our appreciation for your continued support and partnership. Together, we are creating a nurturing environment for our students to learn and grow.
Celebrations from the Week
We are excited to announce that we have successfully completed the 1st Trimester and have now started the 2nd Trimester! This means new classes and new expectations for our students. Let’s encourage them to start strong and stay strong as they embrace the challenges ahead.
Important Announcements
- Attendance Matters: Please remember to call the attendance line or email the front office if your child is absent from school.
- Research shows that missing 10 percent of the school year, or about 18 days in most school districts, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and that’s known as chronic absence. (Source: Attendance Works)
- When students improve their attendance rates, they improve their academic prospects and chances for graduating. (Source: Attendance Works)
- Pre-Arranged Absences: If you know your student will be out on a specific day or days, please complete a pre-arranged absence form beforehand. This helps us keep proper documentation and allows time for arranging missed assignments. Pre-arranged absence forms are not required for absences due to illness, doctor or dental appointments, family emergencies, or school-sponsored events.
- Incomplete Grades: Incomplete (I) grades on report cards must be completed by December 20th. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher for assistance.
- Winter Break: Winter break is right around the corner! We hope you enjoy this special time with family and friends.
