NMIS Principal Welcome Message 8/23/22

Intermediate School Family-

I am overjoyed to welcome you to the 2022-23 school year. It is my desire to get to know each student and to have a year filled with positive, fun and educational experiences.  

 

Back To School Night:

To start the fun, I’m excited to report that we will have a Back To School Night on Wednesday, August 31st from 5 to 6:30pm.  This is a great opportunity for you and your child to come and meet with their teacher.  The format will be a little different this year as buildings will be open, but classrooms will be locked and teachers will be outside.  This gives the opportunity to walk the halls and know where the classroom is, but doesn’t put a large group of people into any classroom at one time.  Teachers, community partners, and fun opportunities will be outside.  You can enjoy the evening with us.  In regards to school supplies for classrooms, we ask that students bring them on the first day of school.

 

Volunteers:

We will be allowing volunteers this year with the following considerations:

• Proof of Covid-19 vaccination or an exception for medical or religious purposes.  

Proof of vaccination or exception must be filed with the school front office.

• Exception forms may be given to front office staff and will be reviewed by confidential, district administration.  

Exception status notification will be processed as soon as possible.

• An updated background check renewed within the last two years.  

Background checks and proof of vaccination/exception are all submitted prior to or on Thursday, October 20.  We are unable to approve anyone for volunteering after this date unless there is a hard-ship or move-in.

 

First Day of School:

Our first day of school is Wednesday, September 7.  This is a late-start Wednesday so students may start arriving at 10:10am.

Meal Prices:

Lunch prices for this year are:

Breakfast:$1.85

Lunch:$2.60

Free and Reduced: Free breakfast and lunch

 

Drop off/Pick Up:

If families and students are using the Pick Up/ Drop Off line, please enter the Intermediate School parking lot, follow signage and staff directions to help the flow of traffic.  

 

Site Council:

Schools are required to have a Site Council.  This is a group of teachers, parents, and administrators who work together to develop, review and evaluate school improvement plans.  If you are interested in this, please contact me.  We very much need a couple of parents willing to be on the council.  Council meetings are one time per month from 4 to 5pm with a day to be determined.  

 

Safety Guidelines:

There are still the same safety guidelines as last year: masks are optional and all staff and students are encouraged to distance themselves to the best of their ability and use good hygiene practices such as hand washing frequently.

 

School Theme:

Our school-wide theme is ELEVATE.  To elevate something means to raise it to a higher level, make it more impressive or to make it something of great value.  We are going to focus on elevating ourselves, our abilities, our mindsets, and each other!  This takes a growth mindset which means believing in ourselves and that we can grow and learn new things even if it seems hard.  So elevate, believe in yourself and let’s grow together!

Familias de la escuela intermedia-

 

Estoy encantado de darle la bienvenida al año escolar 2022-23. Es mi deseo llegar a conocer a cada estudiante y tener un año lleno de experiencias positivas, divertidas y educativas.

 

Para comenzar la diversión, me complace informar que tendremos una noche de puertas abiertas el miércoles 31 de agosto de 5 a 6:30 p. m. Esta es una gran oportunidad para que usted y su hijo vengan y conozcan a su maestra. El formato será un poco diferente este año ya que los edificios estarán abiertos, pero los salones estarán cerradas y los maestros estarán afuera. Esto brinda la oportunidad de caminar por los pasillos y saber dónde está el salón de clases.Los maestros y oportunidades de diversión estarán afuera. Puede disfrutar la tarde con nosotros. Con respecto a los útiles escolares de su estudiate, solicitamos que los estudiantes los traigan el primer día de clases.

 

Voluntarios:

 

Este año permitiremos voluntarios con las siguientes consideraciones:

Las verificaciones de antecedentes y la prueba de vacunación/excepción se tendran que entregar antes del jueves octubre 20. No podemos aprobar a nadie para que se ofrezca como voluntario después de esta fecha, a menos que haya una dificultad o sean  nuevos a nuestro distrito.

 

Primer dia de clases:

Nuestro primer día de clases sera el miércoles 7 de septiembre. Este es un miércoles en donde el inicio es tardío, y los estudiantes pueden comenzar a llegar a las 10:10 am.

Autobús:

Si los estudiantes llegan a la escuela en autobús, consulte el horario de ruta adjunto.

Línea para recoger/dejar:

Si las familias y los estudiantes están usando la línea para recoger/dejar, ingrese al estacionamiento de la escuela intermedia, siga las señales y las instrucciones del personal para ayudar al flujo de tráfico.

 

Desayuno y almuerzo escolar:

Los precios del almuerzo para este año escolar son:

Desayuno: $1.85

Almuerzo: $2.60

Si califica para loche reducido o gratuito: el desayuno y almuerzo sera GRATIS 

 

Consejo de sitio:

Se requiere que las escuelas tengan un consejo de sitio. Este es un grupo de maestros, padres y administradores que trabajan juntos para desarrollar, revisar y evaluar los planes de mejoramiento escolar. Necesitamos mucho un par de padres dispuestos a estar en el consejo. Las reuniones del consejo son una vez al mes de 4 a 5 pm con un día por determinar. Si está interesado en esto, por favor póngase en contacto con el director de la escuela.

 

Guia de seguridad:

Todavía existen las mismas pautas de seguridad que el año pasado: las máscaras son opcionales y se alienta a todo el personal y a los estudiantes a distanciarse lo mejor que puedan y usar buenas prácticas de higiene, como lavarse las manos con frecuencia.

 

Tema escolar:

 Nuestro tema para toda la escuela es ELEVATE. Elevar algo significa elevarlo a un nivel superior, hacerlo más impresionante o convertirlo en algo de gran valor. ¡Nos vamos a enfocar en elevarnos a nosotros mismos, nuestras habilidades, nuestra forma de pensar y a los demás! Esto requiere una mentalidad de crecimiento, lo que significa creer en nosotros mismos y que podemos crecer y aprender cosas nuevas, incluso si parece difícil. ¡Así que elévate, cree en ti mismo y crezcamos juntos!
