OBOB Regionals

"On March 2, 2024, North Marion Middle School sent a team of four 8th graders to the regional tournament for Oregon Battle of the Books. The students named their team the Four Bookateers; they wield books instead of swords!

Twenty-three teams attended the daylong event. Our NMMS students battled four different teams in pool play. They ranked fourth going into bracket play. The students were thrilled that they did so well! We faced a Salem middle school in the round of 16 and won the battle with 30 to 15. The students battled against Gervais Middle School in the quarterfinals/great eight. Gervais was seeded fifth, and they were worthy opponents! At the end of the regular battle, we were tied 15 to 15. The teams went through four rounds of tie breaker questions until Gervais pulled ahead and won the battle to advance to the semifinals. It was an intense and very exciting end to the competition! 

All four of the team members were supportive, encouraging, and positive all day. They faced every question together and trusted each other's knowledge of the books. It was a true team effort and each student played a vital role.

Our students were well-prepared, displayed excellent sportsmanship, and represented North Marion with pride!"
