2023-2024 NM School District Academic Calendar Available

On May 8, 2023, the North Marion School Board approved our Academic Calendar for the 2023-2024 school year.  This year some changes have been made to the calendar, based on feedback from our community and staff.  Below we provide some details on those changes, and how they may impact our students and families.

• We will no longer be holding late start mornings on Wednesday.  Schools will start at the same time Monday through Friday on school days.
• We will hold Professional Learning time for staff on Wednesday afternoons.  Because of this, students will have a slightly shorter day on Wednesdays, and be released early.  School schedules are under development at this time, and will be communicated in the upcoming weeks.
• The calendar team worked hard to eliminate special schedules that can be difficult for students and families.  The exception to this is on the final day of each trimester, where we will have a half-day/early release day.  These schedules will be communicated soon as well.  
• The week of November 20-24, there will be no school for students – providing families with an extended Thanksgiving Holiday Break.
• Please note the calendar was updated on 5/31/23 to reflect a correction on the observation of Veterans day, which was changed to November 10.

We appreciate the feedback and guidance we received on this calendar, as well as the thoughtful discussion that was had by the school board.  We look forward to implementing this calendar next year and watching for the impact it can have on our schools and students.
