The School Facilities Department has the overall goal of providing healthy, safe, and warm facilities for all children attending North Marion schools. They are the ones behind the scenes, keeping the buildings running smoothly, cleaning in and around the schools while maintaining the beautiful landscapes, lawns and athletic fields. The Facilities Department consists of one director, three maintenance/grounds workers who maintain approximately 73 acres and four schools, with 14 custodians maintaining over 200,000 square feet of building space. Additionally, they maintain all the required annual testing of lead, radon, drinking water quality, fire systems & hydrants to name a few.
The Board supports the community education concept, which encourages the use of district facilities by community members for recreation, education and service activities. Please note that in the event there are competing requests for the same facility, Group I will have priority over Group II and Group II may have priority over Group III. Individual schools will also have priority of their facilities over other schools and nationally and regionally recognized youth organizations will have priority over adult users.
