Our girl's soccer team won the 4A State Championship in dramatic style. Our boys lost a very close semifinal match in overtime. In winning our girls consistently showed great character, class, sportsmanship, drive, persistence, and teamwork. Win or lose this is a team to be very proud of.
Following a successful season that culminated in securing the top position in the state, it is unsurprising that the North Marion girls' soccer team demonstrated strong representation in the Oregon West Conference all-league teams.
Senior Caile Lader earned the distinction of being named the co-player of the year for the conference, highlighting her outstanding contributions to the Huskies overall success. Additionally, Vanessa Valenzuela, Fia Swanson, and Melanie Kirstein garnered well-deserved recognition as first-team all-league selections.
Sophomore Paige Comerford secured a spot on the second team, accompanied by senior Yesenia Delgado and freshman Victoria Valenzuela. Noteworthy mentions on the honorable mention list include Kira Bonser (player of the game in the state title match), Domnikka Lyon, and Macallan Cutsforth.
In boys' soccer, senior Aden Carrillo received the prestigious title of Oregon West Conference's player of the year. Freshmen Juruen Delgado and Josue Lomeli Marin joined him on the first team, while Adrian Vallejo Lopez and Alexis Lopez Ibarra earned well-deserved second-team all-league selections.
