North Marion Boys Soccer trounced Marist during the first round of the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) 4A State Championships.

The 3-0 win on Tuesday in Eugene advanced North Marion to the quarterfinals, where the team will play Stayton. The North Marion community was proud of the team’s performance on the field.

“It was a torrential downpour, but our boys scored early, and Marist was kind of on the defense the rest of the night,” North Marion Athletic Director Mark Sundquist said. “Our boys played really well, and everybody got soaked.”

North Marion Girls Soccer, also competing in the first round of the OSAA State Championships this week, will host Pendleton at 6 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) at Canby High School Stadium.
