Online Virtual Learning Will Be Available in 2021-22

Overview

There will be an online learning option for students who would like to stay home in the coming school year. The North Marion School District has partnering with Pearson Connexus Learning Platform to create a Virtual Online Program for the 2021-22 school year.

To help families make this important decision, a virtual parent informational meeting was hosted on September 2 by the Pearson Family Liaison and North Marion School District. To view the video, go to this link. Then enter the passcode: ye#a?3+c

The enrollment period has ended. If you have questions about enrollment, please contact your child's school principal.

Additional Details

Through the Virtual Online Program for the 2021-22 school year, students will still be enrolled in a North Marion school, but they will be able to take classes online with certified and licensed Oregon teachers.

The lessons will be live, along with independent student work. Standards-based, grade-level materials and resources are available, as are advanced courses in some subject areas. Chromebooks and Hot Spots will be provided for any student who needs one.

Individualized supports for students will be provided through this program, as outlined in a student’s learning plan. Live tutor support will be available to meet individual student needs; however, daily support for learning at home will be required for a student to succeed.

When deciding whether to move forward with the Virtual Online Program, please carefully consider your family schedule and student learning needs because:

  • Moving from the Virtual Online Program to onsite learning requires consultation with the school principal and counselor; and
  • Individual student licenses are not refundable for the district if a student returns to in-person learning.
