Reindeer Parade Brings Joy to All

It’s official. The Reindeer Parade is a North Marion Primary School tradition.

Now in its second year, the event involves all five kindergarten classes at North Marion Primary School donning their own handcrafted reindeer antlers and marching through the school singing seasonal music. Teacher Jamie Bohall led the charge on Dec. 14, rolling a portable speaker behind her playing “Jingle Bells” while she and the children sang along.

Staff usually cluster along the parade route and wave to the children passing by, just as thrilled to see the little ones as the kindergartners are to show off their newly made antlers and marching skills. But what is it about the Reindeer Parade that melts hearts?

“They’re little; they’re cute,” Secretary Karla Morales-Rivera said. “We need joy.”

The kindergartners create joy effortlessly with their simple appreciation of a day of crafts and singing with dear (and deer) friends during the holiday season. How could it not become a yearly tradition?
