Staff Appreciation Spotlight: Rubi Contreras

You may have seen Rubi Contreras hurrying through the Intermediate School, but it’d be hard to focus on her because she’s always a blur, a woman in motion, working and rushing around!

Contreras has got a ton to do, and she does it with every ounce of her being! She’s one of our School-Home Liaison and our Migrant Education Program Recruiter, and with her Spanish-English bilingual gift and bright smile, she’s a huge asset to us all! 

Whether she is collecting food and clothing to support families in need, helping families set up and operate tech in their homes, or planning an event, she makes it happen! 

Director of Equity, Inclusion, and Title Programs Irma Patton said that Contreras once got a call from a family who’d accidentally gone to the wrong clinic for an appointment, and she drove all the way there, allowing them to follow her to the correct location.

“That's the kind of thing that Rubi does all the time, so the families love her and we love her,” Patton said. “She just goes above and beyond to do whatever needs to be done for students and families.”

Rubi truly is a rare gem! Thank you for all that you do!
