A Tapestry of Opportunities

NAHS students are inducted, and honored!

At a Tuesday evening ceremony in the High School Commons, Art Teacher Sara Bailey honored an elite few with induction into North Marion Chapter of the NAHS (National Art Honors Society).

North Marion NAHS members are advanced artists at the High School known for their mural-making, photography, and more. At the ceremony, Bailey welcomed the families and staff and lauded all her students, both those who were being inducted and those who will be graduating from school in June.

“There is so much more to you than you realize,” Bailey told her students.

Students received a certificate, an honor cord, and a long-stemmed red carnation, a vibrant flower that’s symbolic of NAHS, but would have been difficult to find without the help of Teacher Tricia Stoddard and her students.

As the ceremony wound down, outgoing NAHS President Annabel Gamlem also offered praise for Bailey.

“As a club, we really do appreciate her,” Gamlem explained to the crowd of about 30 people. “In a pandemic, she kept us motivated to be creative.”

Bailey told her students she simply gives them their due.

“You teach people how you want to be treated,” Bailey said. “You expect the best; you get the best, so thank you.”

Afterward, students snapped photos in the courtyard on a perfectly overcast day that let light diffuse gently over all of the students’ and families’ smiling faces, a lovely farewell and a perfect induction for our North Marion NAHS students:
