Welcome Greeting from Superintendent Redlinger

Welcome Back from the Superintendent - It's going to be a GREAT Year!

From the desk of the Superintendent . . .

The North Marion School District:

  • A welcoming, respectful and safe community.
  • Where we hold ourselves accountable to global standards.
  • Where teaching and learning is challenging, dynamic and engaging and…
  • Where students are empowered to lead productive lives as stewards of their worlds.

Dear North Marion Families,
The words in our vision and mission statement reflect the effort that we give to our work each and every day.  Our staff work to create a learning environment that feels comfortable, inviting and safe.
Our goal is to teach our students how to be part of their community and to plan their transition from student to citizen with the necessary knowledge and skills to be prepared for life. Each staff member knows they will impact the life of a child and they take pride in doing so.

There are two exciting events impacting our schools this year.  The first is the ongoing bond projects that are taking shape, and the second is the passage of the Student Success Act which will provide the district additional funds NEXT school year (2020-2021) so we can offer summer school programs, more counselors at each school, and more supports for students and families in each school.  To be prepared for the NEXT school year, we need your feedback and ideas. This work is directly connected to last year’s Improvement Plan process and surveys so we thank you for your continued feedback!  You will be receiving surveys and invitations from the district to participate and lend your voice to our Student Success Act work.  The first survey will be about district, school, and home communication.  The first invitation will be for a community forum about the Student Success Act.

There are other events coming up soon, specifically, Back to School Night on August 28th starting at 5:00 pm.  All schools will greet parents and students and showcase their upcoming plans.  A hot dog dinner will be served picnic style and classrooms will be ready to tour at 5:30 pm.   In the fall and early spring, we plan to offer parent classes on a variety of topics this year, including students and social media/cyberbullying, suicide prevention, and social emotional development.

This year we are particularly excited about the construction occurring around us and we are grateful to our community for passing the bond. Each school will share information about the project and any adjustments needed in parking, etc. The projects that completed look wonderful.

We are excited to see you at Back-To-School night on August 28th.
