September is Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month. This year, we would like to let you know of some outreach sources to use in times of need. Depression and suicidal thoughts are actually quite common. Suicide is the second leading cause of death in youth (14-18). Around 20% of high schoolers considered suicide, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2019. Help is available, and it’s okay to ask for help.

PTO President Jeanette Johnson says that students are invited to write welcome-back messages in chalk on the pavement at North Marion during Chalk the Walk, and today, Tuesday, is the last day to participate!

Students have been using the colorful sticks provided in pails on campus, with much of the fun happening all over campus. Look for pails at the Primary, Intermediate, Middle, and High schools!

The chalking started on Sunday and Monday, but the pails are still there today!
