Four National Letters of Intent: Looking Forward, Looking Back |
It was standing room-only at about 5 p.m. May 18 in the entry hall of North Marion High School. The baseball team, uniforms and all, were shoulder to shoulder with students, families, coaches, and staff. Stacked on tables festooned with balloons were dessert trays covered in cupcakes topped with sprinkles — in three college colors. |

Intermediate School Principal Returns to His Roots |
North Marion Intermediate School (IS) Principal Cory Gaub is leaving at the end of the school year to pursue a leadership role at a K–5 school in Montana. “We are chasing a dream,” Gaub said, adding that the dream is to be closer to the rest of his family and to also have his two children get to know them. “I grew up in Montana and almost all of my family is there now.” |

You may have seen Rubi Contreras hurrying through the Intermediate School, but it’d be hard to focus on her because she’s always a blur, a woman in motion, working and rushing around! Contreras has got a ton to do, and she does it with every ounce of her being! In honor of Staff Appreciation Week, we're going to be showing our appreciation of staff with features all week! Up until recently, the North Marion School District had one nurse on site, Agnes Albert, BSN, RN. Then the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, and there was a huge spike in frequent guidance updates, policy/procedure updates, staff trainings, COVID-19 testing, contact tracing, and working with the local public health authorities (Marion County Health and Human Services) on top of her usual duties! |

North Marion Middle School Principals Tami Badinger and David Sheldon have already delighted employees during Staff Appreciation Week, and there's still more to come! "We traversed the entire Middle School to show our appreciation," Badinger said. "We served three different kinds of coffee, three different kinds of creamers, various muffins and scones. Tomorrow, we are doing a yogurt bar for staff at the morning meeting. Thursday our leadership kids are handing out write-ups that appreciate all staff." |

Hooray for the North Marion PTO! The North Marion PTO outdid itself this year during Staff Appreciation Week! They lavished kindness on our North Marion school employees, and so much of the joy was, happily, edible! On Tuesday, assorted Panera sandwiches were ready for all to devour (the eatery gave our PTO a 40% discount!), along with chips and salads from Costco. |

Labor Negotiations Update |
The North Marion School District Board of Directors has been asked for information regarding current negotiations with our teachers. The teacher’s existing contract is still in place until we complete work on the replacement. We care deeply about our district staff, students, and the programs that we provide to support students at each stage of their education. We have been working with teachers on a new contract since May of 2021, and we are glad we are making progress. |
